Overall Thoughts
The Secret of Langton Manor is an episodic print and play escape game set in an old mansion shrouded in secrets and mystery, throughout episode one you search the mansion grounds for information, receiving mysterious artefacts and hunting for clues. In episode 2 you delve deeper into the mansion uncovering more dark and unnerving secrets.
For the general explanation of how the game works please refer to my review of episode 1 here - https://www.escapuzzled.co.uk/post/the-secret-of-langton-manor-episode-1-bromelain-games-tabletop
Episode 2 delves significantly more into the story of Langton Manor and its residents, this was very welcome after the first episode having less story. The episode continued to add to the creepiness of the overarching narrative. Every single puzzle felt intuitive and flowed seamlessly, this game seemed to iron out the sticking points from episode 1 which is great. The addition of a map to the puzzles allows you to really understand your way around the building and assists in immersing the player and helps the flow between both rooms and puzzles. The puzzles within the game are definitely easier than episode 1 and more friendly for those who are maybe newer to puzzle games and escape games - Puzzles ranged from general deduction to origami. There are a lot of unique puzzles within this episode that I haven't seen elsewhere and for a print at home game the amount of content and "artefacts" you get is very impressive.
I personally preferred this episode to the first one in terms of story and general flow of gameplay, even as a solo player this time it was still chaotic and the content is expansive yet everything still made sense and there was no struggle following what to do. The progression of quality from episode 1 to 2 gives me a lot of hope for the coming episodes after Bromelain Games announced episode 3 is now on its way and has a working title.
At just $4.00 (£3.00) for the game this is absolutely worth grabbing; if you can afford to support the team at Bromelain games I highly recommend doing so, to help them keep creating great content!
Alternatively if you want a taste of their puzzles before committing to the full episode check out “The diary of John” their mini single page puzzle book which is super creative and packs 15-20 minutes of fun puzzling.
