Overall Thoughts
The EXIT box takes you on a boat in a storm only to capsize and awaken on a black sand beach. Surrounded by a forgotten island landscape your only hope of escape is solving the riddles and unlocking the boat.
Overall this EXIT game has some of my favourite puzzles from all of the boxes I have played, but this is balanced by a few difficult puzzles that offer little guidance within the game, leading to us having to use multiple clues.
The decoder wheel in this game is themed perfectly, given the look of an old golden compass this wheel differs from other games in that it does not use numbers and colours alone but has to be converted from symbols on the puzzles to decode the correct answer card. This added element does slow the solving of puzzles in some instances.
The puzzles in this box are a great example of how EXIT pulls together both the riddle cards and the journal to create some interesting puzzles. There are multiple rewarding "aha" moments solving the puzzles that feel incredibly satisfying.
This box will require quite a bit of out of the box thinking and real brainpower but I would highly recommend giving it a go.
