Overall Thoughts

"In the nostalgic backdrop of 1980s Maine, the town's most coveted bachelor weds a picture-perfect orphan woman. Their wedding rehearsal is set along the breath-taking Atlantic coastline. Yet, the happily-ever-afters are cut short when the groom's lifeless body is discovered at the base of a cliff, with the toxicology results beyond anyone's darkest imagination..."

As mentioned in our previous review the packaging for this game is simple yet elegant; a single scarlet red envelope with secrets and adventures locked inside. To fit an entire murder mystery inside with evidence and various reports is incredibly impressive!

The contents of the envelope expand both in person and online; although some may find it confusing where to start, once you begin everything flows seamlessly. Scarlet Envelope offers highest quality game contents from foiled invitations to evidence on authentic paper, which makes this game really stand out among a more commercial market.

The puzzles in this game were definitely aimed more towards enthusiasts and experienced puzzlers; one of which in particular I really struggled with. Fortunately with a hint system in place I was able to get back on track almost immediately. Should you have chose the 'experienced' option for the experience you will have to solve a puzzle to access the hint system, which was a great added touch.

The online elements of this game really compliment the tactile elements; helping to further drive the story. The audio recordings were incredibly high quality and really helped to immerse us further into the experience, taking the murder mystery element to another level. There are other elements in the game I don't wish to disclose due to spoilers but they are incredibly immersive and help make the game feel more like an actual escape room.

Overall an great murder mystery experience for Scarlet Envelope - Although I'm not the biggest fan of murder mysteries this game certainly stands above the others I have experienced!
